How Long Does a CO₂ Cylinder Last?

It's the first question most people ask before switching to home carbonation: how much sparkling water will one cylinder actually make? The honest answer is — it depends on how fizzy you like it. Here's the full breakdown.

The short answer

A single Bullèsque CO₂ cylinder (425g of food-grade CO₂) makes 30–60 litres of sparkling water depending on your carbonation level:

Carbonation level Yield per cylinder
Light 50–60L
Medium 40–50L
Strong 30–40L

The stronger the fizz, the more CO₂ each bottle uses — so a "Strong" setting will go through gas faster than "Light."

What that means in real life

For a typical household drinking sparkling water daily, one cylinder lasts roughly 3–6 weeks, depending on how many people are drinking it and how fizzy you like it. If you entertain often or have a big household, you'll go through it faster — which is exactly why the Premium Kit comes with two cylinders.

How to know when it's running low

You'll notice the fizz getting weaker — the water comes out softly carbonated even on a higher setting. That's your cue to swap in a new cylinder. Keeping a spare on hand means you never have a fizz-free day.

What to do when it's empty

You never throw a cylinder away. When it's empty, you exchange it for a new one through our CO₂ refill service — we deliver a new cylinder to your door and collect the empty, for $15 with free delivery across Lebanon.

Tips to make a cylinder last longer

  • Use cold water. Cold water absorbs CO₂ far more efficiently than room-temperature water, so you get more fizz per burst.
  • Don't over-carbonate. If "Medium" is enough for you, you don't need "Strong" — you'll stretch each cylinder further.
  • Seal and chill after carbonating to keep the fizz in the bottle longer, so you're not re-carbonating the same water.

The bottom line

One cylinder = 30–60 litres of fresh sparkling water, at roughly $0.30–$0.40 per litre once you factor in the $15 refill. That's a fraction of store-bought — with no bottles to carry or recycle.
